This is a post which applies to the performance standards. I have used many of the concepts of asssessment, but like what I call a total approach. I use Problem based instruction which I have called reality instruction. I like using applications from the real world in my teaching. I use a PBI in most of the instructional hours. I firmly believe it is more than just tests and what they have gained from the text. I believe the tests themselves are instructional tools which I use daily. Life is more than what we read and how we take a test.
This post is for competencies which I have developed and submitted. This will be the key items I plan to use for the print reading course. I may add more competencies once I feel comfortable with the course, but for now this is the primary items to be covered.

Andrea,
I think I have this system somewhat figured out, but well need to remimd myself from time to time. I believe I have completed the assignments for week 1 and 2 on Tuesday and submitted them to you.
The resources for this assignment were very interesting and I have tried to incorporate those into the competencies for the week. I will expand on this format for the completed course on Print Reading.
Developing the competencies there is one area where one focuses on teaching to pass the tests. This has been of questionable procedure in the distant past and one would have to be careful not to repeat.
Thank you for the help

To all who may view:
This is my first attempt at blogging and use of the computer for the curriculum course. It has been time consuming to make all the arrangements and to get the computer to function. Looking forward to using this new tool.
